Course Description: Provides knowledge and skills for the design and implementation of qualitative health research and the management and analysis of qualitative data. This course analyzes various research designs for ability to generate scientifically rigorous findings related to nursing or health care. This course explores current challenges, debates and controversies in qualitative researchers.

Other considerations: This course is a combination of synchronous and asynchronous sessions. The first day of the course will be held in the classroom. NEXus students can attend the first day of class via Zoom. On completion of the course, the student will be able to: 1. Critically evaluate the assumptions, strengths and weaknesses of selected qualitative designs 2. Demonstrate skill in at least one data generation strategy and data analysis techniques commonly used in qualitative research 3. Design a qualitative study, including the data management and analytic approach, that is methodologically rigorous.
