Course Description: This course provides an overview of the philosophical foundations and assumptions that underlie approaches to nursing inquiry. The contributions of several important philosophers will be considered and an exploration of competing viewpoints will be undertaken. Issues of what it means to know, what truth is, how we know, and what can be learned from science and philosophy that will contribute to the continuing development of the discipline of nursing will be explored.
