Course Description: This course provides a foundation for critically examining and developing research frameworks and models used to conduct biobehavioral research. This course explores assumptions about the dimensions, interactions, and outcomes of biology and behavior from basic science through interventional approaches. This course discusses current applications of biobehavioral research including translational research to improve nursing practice and clinical outcomes.

Other considerations: The course is asynchronous with a few synchronous virtual sessions throughout the semester (these are recommended but not required). The first day of the course is synchronous, date and time TBD. The first day of the course is held in person. NEXus students can attend the first class via Zoom. Course objectives: 1. Examine different frameworks and models used in biobehavioral research. 2. Explore dimensions of biobehavioral research from basic science through interventions. 3. Compare and contrast different approaches to biobehavioral research. 4. Critique biobehavioral research evidence as applied to nursing practice and policy. 5. Develop a research framework/model in the student’s area of interest.
