Course Description: A range of qualitative research approaches are critically analyzed exploring contemporary qualitative designs and underlying theoretical models. Students will develop a qualitative research proposal appropriate for student’s doctoral research questions and consistent with IRB requirements.

 

Method of Instruction: Asynchronous in Canvas with optional intensive.

Other considerations: By the end of this course, the learner will be able to: 1) Apply foundational principles of qualitative research to area of substantive interest. 2) Critique the distinctions and applications of qualitative research approaches. 3) Critically analyze the philosophical and theoretical foundations of qualitative research. 4) Respond to critique and challenges regarding the rigor and scientific merit of contemporary approaches. 5) Propose a scientifically meritorious study addressing a significant nursing problem/question.
