Course Description: In depth study of principles foundational to quantitative research including causation, sources of error, measurement, the focal unit, and internal and external validity; experimental and quasi-experimental designs; and methods of statistical analysis for these designs.

Other considerations: By the end of this course, the learner will be able to: 1) Apply foundational principles of quantitative research to the area of substantive interest. 2) Apply foundational principles of quantitative research to the critique of published research for sources of error in design and measurement. 3) Select and evaluate the theoretical and psychometric properties of an instrument to measure a concept pertinent to the area of substantive interest. 4) Analyze the strengths and limitations of experimental and quasi-experimental designs and their relationships to causal inference. 5) Use appropriate statistical techniques to analyze data from experimental and quasi-experimental research.
