Course Description: OVERVIEW OF CONTENT: This course addresses how health care organizations engage with, respond to, and impact the broader healthcare system. Influence on health care organizations will be discussed, including health reform initiatives and mandates from accrediting and regulatory bodies. Interdisciplinary roles, teams, communication, and leadership are also covered in this course. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the semester, students should be able to – 1. Describe the influence of accrediting and regulatory bodies on organizations/systems. 2. Evaluate how different organizations respond to external rules and regulations. 3. Discuss how current health reform initiatives influence organizational care delivery and 1. decision-making. 4. Analyze the unique contributions and interconnected roles of all members of the health 2. care team. 5. Identify organizational leadership attributes and skills that promote effective 3. collaboration and communication within health care organizations. 6. Evaluate change management theories within the health care environment.
