Course Description: This course focuses on applying concepts and measures used in quality health services research. It also discusses health care quality research priority areas, current quality and safety measures, and data sources. In addition, students will evaluate the types of quality and safety measures used in health care quality research and relate these to their focus areas. Students will apply their knowledge from the prerequisite course to develop a research proposal incorporating a research framework, concepts and measures, and methods used in health care quality research.

Other considerations: The first day of class is synchronous - date/time TBD. At the completion of the course, the student will be able to: 1. Explore current healthcare quality research priorities. 2. Critically examine quality and safety measures and standards. 3. Compare and contrast different data sources used in healthcare quality research. 4. Develop a research proposal including research framework, concepts and measures, and methods. 5. Construct a proposed healthcare quality program of research for the student’s program of inquiry.
