Research methods appropriate to descriptive, correlational, experimental, and quasi-experimental designs are critically examined and applied. The role of theory in research is also explored. Descriptive, correlational, and quasi-experimental design will be the focus of the second semester in the sequence. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the semester, students should be able to – 1. Compare and contrast research paradigms from a variety of traditions and describe the role of descriptive, correlational, and quasi designs in the generation of knowledge for practice and to further understanding 2. Evaluate design decisions related to purpose of study, existing knowledge, sampling, data collection methods, reliability and validity issues, data management, data analysis, and ethical implications. 4.
