Course Description: ATTENTION: THIS IS A MASTERS LEVEL COURSE. OVERVIEW OF CONTENT: The purpose of this course is to provide evidence-based approaches to formative and summative assessment of learners. Providing useful feedback to learners will be emphasized. Using multiple sources of information to determine effectiveness of instruction and student learning will be addressed. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the semester, students should be able to – 1. Design assessment tools to measure learner achievement of desired outcomes. 2. Use assessment and feedback to promote learner achievement of desired outcomes. 3. Use appropriate assessment strategies to provide formative and summative assessment of learner achievement. 4. Incorporate learner assessment data in course/curricular evaluation. 5. Use learner assessment data to improve one’s own education practice.
