Course Description: Course description: This course is designed to apply leadership and management knowledge specific to creating and sustaining healthy work environments in healthcare. Students will engage in discussions on current and emerging issues focused on healthcare work environments. Core concepts: The core concepts included in this course are: healthy work environment, effectiveness, efficiency, safety, patient and job satisfaction, retention, and organizational culture. Course objectives: Through discussion and completion of assigned activities, the student will be able to: 1. Discuss leadership and management concepts that apply to influencing the work environment 2. Evaluate principles for effectiveness in creating healthy work environments across settings of practice. 3. Construct a strategic plan for a healthy work environment based on a synthesis of evidence and practice principles.
